Weiss Enameled Heraldic Brooch. Diana Vreeland, the longtime edition of Vogue Magazine, and avid jewelry collector, was also a fashion visionary and trendsetter. She wore simple, classic clothing and flashy jewelry, both fine and costume. She established a fashion trend of wearing heraldic brooches. Other designers caught the wave, inspired by the uniquely strong and powerful imagery of heraldic design.
Weiss produced this dynamic quatrefoil and cross brooch in the 1960s. The brooch centers a fleur-de-lis, surrounded by brilliant emerald-green enameling, ruby-red rhinestones, and faux pearls. Weiss Colored Austrian Rhinestones and Art Glass Choker. c1950 A real showstopper and beautiful example of Weiss' expertise! This choker is loaded with color and prong-set glass stones.
The chain is set is with sapphire-blue rhinestones. Emerald-green center stones suspend variegated blue and lime green marquise stones, and four large 14 x 18mm pear-shaped stones nestle between. Two of these are variegated blue and lime green. The other two are foiled glass stones with the predominant colors of silver and blue. The backings are all closed and a plaque bears the signature "Weiss". Exceptional quality and clarity. LH205-06
