Tutankhamen Egyptian Sterling Earrings. These earrings date to the very important 1978 Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition "Treasures of Tutankhamen". This was the first of the "blockbuster" exhibitions. There was a revival of interest in ancient Egyptian theme jewelry due to this show. I believe that these sterling cast and cutout earrings depict Tutankhamen's Queen sister/wife Ankhesenamen. In the very fine castings, she is shown with an elaborate pectoral decoration centering a sun disk. Atop her wig is a decoration of two tall plumes centering a lotus stalk, all above a sun disk. The earrings measure a total of 1 7/8" long and are a true pair (the earrings face each other). Very fine detail and excellent condition. Shipping/Insurance is free in the USA!
