This 1930s Victorian Revival floral crucifix is elaborate and large. In the Victorian period, memorial sentiment allowed for massive crosses, and objects loaded with decorations were adored. The gilt brass cross is composed of a highly textured, flat base. Rose and leaves are “puffy” and applied. The work is very careful, and is a touching piece of yesterday.
The pendant with bail measures 3” and the cross displays prettily on a fresh 22" square link chain. Condition is very good. There is wear on some of the high points to the gilding, consistent with age. DH4-05 - $80
The lasting beauty of a signed 14k crucifix will be a timeless reminder of Christ's gift. This substantial gold pendant measures 1 3/4" long. The reverse of the cross is signed "14K", and "AE" for the maker.
A 14K, 25" twisted link chain is provided with this pendant, but the generously-sized bale will allow for placement on a different chain or necklace. Excellent condition and a smart choice for today's woman. DH7-05 - $575
Carved lava rosaries are quite rare, as are most gemstone rosaries. Because of their weight, few rocks other than minerals are used as beads. Lava is an exception.
Igneous rock from the core of the earth, when forced to the surface in molten form, sometimes forms lava. Lava is a unique, light rock which has been fashioned into jewelry from antiquity and has recently been "rediscovered" as a design element in fine jewelry.
The lava beads of this vintage rosary measure approximately 6mm. The metal in this rosary is sterling. The crucifix is quite striking with matte finish, and mirror finish along the sides. The central medal depicts Our Lady of the Rosary of Fatima, and the Sacred Heart. A unique gift, and inspiration treasure from yesterday, for the clergy or religious. DH12-05 - $395

Antique Victorian Black Jet Cross Mourning Brooch. This antique Victorian crucifix brooch is formed from "hard" English Whitby jet, the best quality jet for jewelry.
The Whitby jet industry boomed after Queen Victoria entered mourning for her dead husband and wore large quantities of jet. The Victorians lived with death nearby, and women in particular spent much of their lives in mourning. Many infants did not survive and life expectancy was only 42 years. The dead were also kept with the household until burial.
The brooch measures 1 1/4" tall. The cross terminals are capped with hand-engraved yellow gold which tests at least 14k. C-clasp closure. Very good condition. DH78-05
Large Antique Victorian Crucifix and Chain. This oversized antique Victorian cross measures a little over 3 1/4" tall. Metal is bronze or brass. There is evidence of gilding on the reverse. Five sections of intricate leaf and scroll tracery make up the cross. The intricate design looks like it came from a Victorian pattern book. The large size would indicate a mid-Victorian date and the cross might have originally been suspended on a black ribbon.
The 23" elongated link chain is from the 1960s. DH269-07 Another View - $105
