Vintage Enamel Sterling Serpent Ring Signed Espo. This daring vintage sterling ring depicts a banded krait, which is a large, poisonous snake found in India. It's the adversary in Rudyark Kipling's "Rikki-Tikki-Tavvi" and in Roald Dahl's short story "Poison." Current theory holds that it's the deadly serpent in the Sherlock Holme's mystery "The Adventure of the Speckled Band." The banded krait's toxin is 16 times more toxic than the cobra's.
If you are brave enough to wrap this onto your finger, the ring is a size 6. Ring height is a little over 7/8". The black and yellow glass enamel is in excellent condition. Green rhinestones accent the eyes. Signed on the inside band "STERLING - ESPO." This mark was first used in 1951 by Esposito Jewelry, Inc., Providence, Rhode Island.
